Well. My liver biopsy results came in with some old scarring that was there ten years ago. But no new damage or inflamation what so ever. In other words my last treatment gave my liver and body the break it needed to repair and fight off further damage. Doc says as long as I watch my health, there is no reason to believe any further damage will occur. At the very least, I've bought some time for new treatments to come out.

Just gotta keep on keeping on.

Although I havent made it that far yet, I'm sure it's natural to be worried about the virus coming back after treatment. It's probably like Sherril said- residuals from treatment. Just keep eating a wide variety of healthy foods and drinking lots of water. Ive been exersizing-walking and mowing grass and my red cell count is up.
When I get off of treatment, I'm going to do everything I can do to forget about fighting the dragon and just live my life. Ive developed healthy habbits that will carry over so I'm going to be ok no matter what.
Worry doesnt do any good, so forget about it.

Right on Brock! HCV is just another virus. Nastier than some but less virulent than the flu. Yet the flu kills thousands every year. The ideal is not to be virus free at all times but to be able withstand their effects. Treatment is one way to fight HCV. Living a healthy sober life is another.

STAN, THAT IS THE BEST NEWS I'VE HEARD ALL YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All that whey powder and dancing is working for you. As it should be.

I talked to a bunch of people and they said the same thing you said Sherrill and even something that you said before that it can take years to feel normal. Oh Goody.

Today woke up with a terrible cold so maybe I've just been fighting something, who knows. Too sick to go to work/lab/anywhere but bed. Another day in paradise.

And, no Mike, I'm in YOUR corner, especially in 2 or 3 weeks.

Ast 17, alt 33 (up from 15 in feb). Not good but md says that my having a cold when I took the test could account for the blip. I don't believe her. Has anyone heard of this, having higher alt because of a cold/fever type thing?

My employer has decided that even though I still have vacation time left, I need to enter into the family leave act program as I have been out alot lately (when I was on treatment, hardly at all) so it has been a full day here at chez penn. I've left a message and hope but am not confident that the hospital will fill out the paperwork for me now, 2-1/2 months AFTER treatment. If not, I am going to uncle the whole thing and quit like everyone I know has wanted me to do for a really long time and chill for a bit.

your still well within the normal range on both and yes any type of infection, virus such as colds, flu even injuries that cause your white blood cells to increase will impact both the alt and ast numbers, both enzymes are highly sensitive to fluctuations in other bodily functions in addition fever in and of itself will generally drive the number up as to will any medications you may have taken such as cold medicines. Try not to work youself into anxiety dear, unless those number begin climbing to 3,4,5 times normal they are not indicitive of liver function malfunctions. the proteins, lipids and enzymes in the liver fluctuate pretty radically within a 1x below and 2x above normal fairly regularly the liver is the first line of defense against all disease and it is partially the increased production that triggers the rest of the body to fight disease. Any way, waaay more info than you wanted I am sure. I would give it a few weeks past this cold and test again...

and by the way, if you still have "any" paid time available to you your employer "CANNOT" force you into FMLA, geez your in CA I can't believe they would try to get away with that in a state so highly sensitive to litigation, grrr....Don't you just hate when people mess with you for the heck of it, ooooh, bad egg, very bad egg

Buck up girlfriend maybe this is one of those turning points and leaving this job will bring something new and fabulous your way, thats my story and I'm sticking to it, so should you.

Boy, it really paid off to say you look pretty with your head shaved.

Thanks so much, really. We're so lucky to have you in this tribe. It was not more information that I wanted. It was exactly what I wanted to hear. I'm already having a sobfest over here. I did the qualitative test also and in 9 days I'll know if, excuse me, that I'm non-detectable.

I actually have some interesting information about having the Bayer test do the analysis. My doc has noticed that some of the testing facilities doing the same test, the HCV RNA TMA Qualitative, have returned false positives. One lady that was clear for two years came back detectable and in actuality, she was still non-detectable. The Bayer test is out of southern California, expensive $461 is the only one that the hospital here will use.

any time honey thats what were here for. I was just reading an article the other day about all of the anomalies in HCV testing, every thing from the counts to the viral load test, that so many labs do differently and even interpret the same data differently. Just one more damn thing inconsistant with this condition, wonder how any of us get good info or proper treatment.
