Re: OFF Treatment.... Thank you Tracy

I know that medically my chances of clearing it completely by taking the additional 3 months would be greatly increased, but there are other ways to live with this virus and I just choose to combine the two.
When I first found out that I had this 16 months ago, I decided that I would combine the herbal and standard treatments. I started by telling the doctors that I needed 6 – 9 months to naturally clear the virus and reverse the minor damage that had been caused by my body fighting the virus. One said start immediately… the other said wait till your liver is stage 2 before beginning the treatments. Neither really wanted to address the herbal issue, but the one that said he wanted me to start immediately… also agreed to work with my herbalist to monitor my condition. When I returned to this doctor 6 months later, my viral load was down 75% (only 142,000) and my liver tests all came back completely normal. I had also managed to reverse the deterioration of my leg muscles and gain 10 pounds. The doctor tried to tell me that this was normal… I simply replied, “Yes I know, but how many tell you that they are going to do this 6 months ahead of time?” This caused my normally sublime doctor to raise an eyebrow and you could literally see the light come on in his heart. He calmly asked me… now what? I told him I was going to take the treatment in order to kick this thing’s ASS and that I needed another 5 weeks before beginning treatment, in order to clear the protective herbs from my system. He smiled and our journey together began.
Throughout the whole thing this doctor has remained rather sublime, but open to allowing me to call the shots. He could not ignore the fact that doing things my way… I managed to avoid most of the more serious emotional and physical side effects. He also could not ignore that this all changed when I began the generics. He knew that I could complete the treatment on the name brand meds, he also knew that with the way my body had responded, that I probably could have stopped after only 6 months. I managed to complete 36 of the treatments… so I was in the safe zone. However, with my increased risk for cancer and heart problems… the additional 3 months of treatment could have caused problems that would shorten my life quicker than the virus… So, he agreed that once again he would support me in “Doing things MY way”…. Smiles
I’m very in tuned with my body and have been for many years, so… It is time… and I will be FINE.
SMILES….

Sun, October 22, 2006 - 6:54 PMYou will indeed be absolutely fine.
I did chinese medicine and acupuncture only for about 10 years and my viral load went way down, my symptoms went away and when I had my first biopsy I was 1:1. Works for me.

Re: OFF Treatment.... Thank you Tracy
Mon, October 23, 2006 - 7:45 AMMilk Thistle is one of the best known herbs used to manage this virus and reverse the liver damage, but it is important to find an herbalist in your area to assist and monitor.

Re: OFF Treatment.... Thank you Tracy
Fri, October 27, 2006 - 10:11 PMBe careful of milk thistle around treatment, some studies show that it interferes with the effacacy of interferon/ribaviron.
I took Hepatoplex 1 for years and it really helped.
How are you holding up Tonja? -

Re: OFF Treatment.... Thank you Tracy
Sat, October 28, 2006 - 8:02 AMThank you Bev for the warning... I have heard that after five weeks it is safe to reintroduce the Milk Thistle... but I'm still researching this.
I will also look into Hepatoplex 1... for now I'm just doing the green tea extract and a few other supplements to reduce the chance of cancer being an after effect of the treatment.
I've been off the shots for two weeks and off the Ribo for only a week, so I'm still going through the rollercoaster of emotions. But, I have found meditation truly helps me to deal with this. I'm now able to eat, so I hope to put on some weight soon. My main problem at the moment is not being able to sleep... it wears me down to keep going on only 3-4 hours of sleep. So, any suggestions would be great.
For the most part I'm still doing great... I just force myself to shake it off and keep going. Still it is better than the past few weeks of Generic Ribo... LOL
Thanks for your concern... Love,

Thu, November 9, 2006 - 12:21 PMI don't know about you guys but when I was taken off treatment I had a weird few days right after where I couldn't get out of bed and I suffered from what I now know were panic attacks. I mean I am sure the esophogeal ulcer had something to do with it but it was a very weird feeling getting off the meds. -

Re: OFF Treatment.... Thank you Tracy
Thu, November 9, 2006 - 12:36 PMYes, I did feel a little weak and moody the first week. After that I began some herbal treatments to steady my moods and to improve my strength.
I still get tired, but itreally is not that bad... at least I can now sleep through the night.
And I have picked up 5 pounds... only 15 more pounds and I will begin to look like myself again... LOL
