I am going to write a brief description of Hepatitis C for a group I'm starting at another site. What are some of the main points I should highlight in this description?

Re: Description Of Hepatitis C
Sun, July 30, 2006 - 2:18 PMHow it can be caught. There's a lot of misunderstanding there.
I think one of the important things to say Brock is how hep c affects people in different ways. Some have symptoms; some don't. The same with treatment, some have an awful time and others get away with few side effects. Some have liver damage, some don't. It's such a wide spectrum.
How about mentioning that a healthy lifestyle with good food and without alcohol can help.
All I can think of at the mo

Mon, July 31, 2006 - 8:51 AMYes- Tracey you hit on some great points. One thing I would like to point out is that no matter how they got it or what kind of lifestyle they led or lead now- no matter what- they should not feel ashamed!! I don;t know about you guys but I have had alot of backlash from the medical community UNTIL I tell them that I got it through a blood transfusion. No it's become a game. I try to get as much as I can from them, attitude, etc. before I tell them, just to see what their reactions to me are (is that bad?) Hey, gotta have some fun once in awhile! I was also very scared to tell family and friends because at first even I believed the stigma that is attached to this disease. But I found pretty much all of them to be supportive. Point being- it doesn't mater how it was contracted, we should all be treated the same. I would also suggest they do their own reasearch in addition to what their doctors are telling them. I think the VA wensite some one gave me in this forum is a great one- sorry can't rememeber who posted it but it's around here somewhere. Like Tracey said try to explain about geno's, how things effect everyone differently, etc... here's another couple websites I found helpful in understanding geno's, blodd tests, etc...
