As soon as I get a note from my psyciatrist faxed to the doctors office, I'll be good to go on starting treatment again.
My lab results: AST-26 normal is 40
ALT-70 normal is 55
Viral Load- 2,880,000
My biopsy results: stage 1, grade 1 (two years ago I was stage 1 grade 2) so I might have regenerated some.
Type of damage is that instead of a smooth sheen, my liver is becoming nodular (perforated).
So it has'nt progressed any since 2005... should I do treatment again, or say f_ ck it? What do you all think?

Sounds like you have already made up your mind! But...
Did you make it all the way through last time?
Will it be the same protocol?
Are you still off the booze?
I'm not big on fk off Brock, do whatever your heart says based upon all the facts and emotions.

I never gave up on treatment and went through the protocal 4 times before the Doc decided that it was just way to dangerous for me because my immune system had become so comprimised that I could die from infections. Add to that my liver had gotten to the stage where it just isn't savable anymore.

ah Mike you never liked it anyway, wtf I say replace it...

I've moved away from my old drinking buddies and am living with my very suportive fiance. It isnt even hard not to drink anymore. Yes- I finished treatment the last time. I think I can go through with this again and do the things I need to do to give myself the best possible chance of clearing the virus. I'm glad to see that Bev and Mike and other old and new friends are here at tribe to help me through this again. I'll start getting here more to put in my two cents worth in again now too.
Are you still clear of the virus Bev? -

Brock I'm always going to be around! Bev big hugs, I'm so happy that you are still clear!

Hi Brock
It's your decision of course...I would say.'Go for it'
Nice to hear you're being a good boy. I'm still hanging around and will be here.
Good luck, whatever you decide.

I have decided to use diet and exersize and milk thistle to controll it instead. Something else will more likely kill me before hep c does.
-

That is certainly a good idea, however before you give up on treatment I would like to say I am in late stage liver disease and on the transplant list because of Hep C, my Doc says she doesn't feel I have much more than two years left on this liver so here's hoping for a new liver.
I never gave up on treatment it just failed me as a non responder, I went through treatment 4 times and would do it again if they let me. Good diet, exercise are good no great and will help you fight the virus Milk Thistle is of some help but it is my understand that it is of greatest help to those that have minimal liver damage.
Whatever you decide I'm rooting for you.

if you tolerated the treatment the first time, i think you should do it again-right away. you have the best chance of getting rid of it while your viral load is still so low.
a compound in grapfruit inhibits viral replication. use it daily (but tell your doctors, it can increase blood-drug levels). the virus replicates on ldl cholesterol. avoid animal products and hydrogenated oils. take milk thistle, and (time-release) n-acetyl-cystene and lipoic acic. avoid caffeine and sugar. get enough excercise. get enough sleep.
but DO do these things AND the standard treatment.

I agree with Jeanette, strike while you are strong.
I hit this post through lateral surfing. I have no direct experience fighting Hep, but I know of several good alternative treatments for viral infections that are worth posting.
One other compound that really helps inhibit viral replication is Red Marine Algae. Not sure if this works against the Hep C virus, but it is worth looking into. www.vibranthealth.org/gig.html
Also, castor oil abdominal packs have been shown to really help fight viral illness. Some research done with HIV patients. Read about this here: www.electroherbalism.com/Natur...il.htm
And also Dr McGarey's books: www.amazon.com/Oil-That-H.../0876043082
One last trick for nasty infections is taking a few drops of Food Grade H202 in distilled water, read this page for more info. You need to be very careful with H202 - read up and get proper information.
