Well, it looks like I might be at the end of my treatment.
28 weeks in... non-detectable since week 5 and liver function doing great... but life can blind side you sometimes.
Now my company decides to hit me with a real whammy... Last week they changed our coverage, so now I have a new claim to submit. It appears that I will now have to come up with another annual deductabe to satisfy the new coverage requirements.... That is two annual coverages out of pocket in 6 months. Just to top off the deal... my company also sent me their first note since I have been on disability.... it was a $2000 invoice for the coverage paid during my leave. I had been told that they would cover it and work it out when I returned. Well two days after I return from disability leave.... I own them in full or coverage will be canceled.... WOW how nice of them. I mean a get well card ahead of time would have been nice.... LOL
So.... I go back to work in a week.... I do not have the money for the extra deductable nor do I have the money to repay the past coverage... so I will no longer have coverage. I guess, it appears that my shot last Friday was the end of it.
What a waste of time and money... Hell I should have just put my faith in Divine intervention from the very beginning... and saved myself all the crap of treatment.
Oh well.... such is Life.
Keep Smiling,
T

Re: Yeah.... the fun behind Hep-C and treatment.
Tue, August 22, 2006 - 12:39 PMDon't stop treatment now- They have programs where you can get the drugs for free. Go to the website of the company that made the drug and they usually have programs for (low income) people. Even with ins. mine cost $600 amonth for the shots but I got on the program and they were FREE!! Check out these 2 websites!

Re: Yeah.... the fun behind Hep-C and treatment.
Wed, August 23, 2006 - 4:55 PMTonjha, that just sucks, but yes you should call the maker of which ever drug your on, they have all sorts of programs available.
Tell you what the reall pisser is, when I was kicked off of treatment last time I had a 3 month supply in my fridge, asked the doc what to do with it and he said "throw it away".
The hell you say, I said, $4000 worth of drugs in the trash when there are so many that can't get treatment due to cost. Well I worked out a deal with a nurse friend of mine to get it to places where they could use it, thank God.
Just made me sick to contemplate on how many people actually would have just thrown it away at the docs instructions.
I am just sure though that this will work out for you and worse case is, heck, you cleared so long ago and many of the medical schools of thought only give a 24 week for those that clear as early as you, I suspect the Gods are on your side and you slayed the dragon already.
My prayers are with you.... -

Re: Yeah.... the fun behind Hep-C and treatment.
Wed, August 23, 2006 - 7:41 PMThank you Sherril for the supportive words...
Believe me... I have blasted the establishment several times over the current situation... but finally I decided just as you have stated... perhaps it is time to stop.
The next thing that I knew... Dear Brock offered me his three extra shots... I will be driving down to meet Brock and thank him in person. Due to Brock's actions I will not miss a shot and I will be covered for at least the next two weeks... perhaps that will be long enough to work something out on the remaining 17 shots... if not... hey it is three shots closer. i also still have enough Rebetol for two and a half weeks... so I'm covered for the next three shots... YEAH!!!!
Bless you Brock... you are my hero.
Big Hugs.

Re: Yeah.... the fun behind Hep-C and treatment.
Thu, August 24, 2006 - 1:54 PMTonjha I just can't believe they do that. When I took back some ribas I had left the nurse threw them in the bin. If they can do that they can find you some extra.
Being in the uk I don't know how it works over there but you fight for it. I just cannot believe it!
Brock..that was kind..
I'm just gobsmacked! -

Re: Yeah.... the fun behind Hep-C and treatment.
Thu, August 24, 2006 - 6:34 PMYes Tracey it is amazing how it works out... they can throw it away with one hand, while hold the phone with the other and telling someone they can not get the coverage thru... mind boggeling!!!!!
I am so blessed to have friends who will help... also, it appears some of the insurance problems are beginning to work themselves out... so, I still hold onto hope that it will all work out.
I must admit... Hep-C... It IS one hell of a ride... so hold on!
and Keep Smiling!!!!
