Sometimes I just wannta smack the crap out of my primary care doctor. Instead of checking with my specialist for HepC, she tried to send me to another specialist because my platets are low. I've had her for over 26 years, I think it's time to find a new primary care doc before I go off on this witch! No, it's not the treatments making me crappy, she's always been a witch! LOL............

Re: Ggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,
Tue, July 18, 2006 - 8:41 AMI have had this disease for over 20 yrs, it took me the first 5 to figure out the docs new nothing, hell back in those days there were docs that had never even heard of hep c, I am lucky that within kaiser the protocol is pretty broad in the educating of the docs and if any questions arise they send me off to GI, though I have always been baffled as to why they don't treat it out of infectious disease instead of GI
Its crucial you find a doc that not only has knowledge but expertise in Hep, preferrably a hepatologist but a decent alternative is infectious disease, GI or internal medicine, ask specific questions, ie, how many hep c patients do they have, how many treated and get a general feel for their stance on it, the last thing you want is one of those jackasses that treats you like a leper or is dismissive
shop around, the whole culture has forgotton the "they" work for "us" too often we would fire a plumber faster for bad service than we would a doctor
